Units of Meaning

Units of Meaning Category

One of the ways of becoming more conscious is by noticing what is around us. One of the basic tools that I use to recognize what is around me is the “idea.” The idea is the Basic unit of meaning. It is also the basic unit of change. It’s a little bit like a quanta of light which has wavelike and particle like properties. In the case of the idea, the meaning of the idea is its particle like quality while the change it creates is its wavelike quality.

Units of meaning may in part have been inspired by my study of chinese where each character can have associated with it some meaning. When characters are put together the word that results can be a summation of the meanings of the characters that make it up. Units of meaning has also been inspired by Chinglish, funny English sayings that the Chinese tend to use but which are written with very poor grammar. The funny thing is though, that these expressions can make sense. What that leads me to beleive is that language is a means of pointing at something. What matters isn’t what we say but what we are talking about. learning a new language, if we think about the way we say something in our own language, it can be a little limiting, however if we think about what we are actually talking about, what our language is pointing at, it may then be easier to assimilate new languages because we realize we are simply learning a new way to talk about the same thing.

This category mainly focuses on providing tools to help make learning Chinese easier. These are tools that I am creating as I struggle to learn the language. In learning Chinese I am finding I am understanding other things easier, such as basic principles, being more conscious and even basic principles.

this category may have overlap with Anatomy because one of the things I am interested in learning is anatomy in Chinese. Would you believe it may make learning anatomy easier simply because the Chinese don’t have an equivalent to latin, instead the language is reasonably plain and straight forwards. The only reason alot of Chinese don’t learn anatomy is because it means learning more characters. there also seems to be a notion that they have to be taught.

So this is more for people who like to self learn or self teach themselves.
